Some good software is better off not being ours.

We build 12 products and run every one of them ourselves. Occasionally we meet a company we would rather back than build — a market we believe in, a team already further into it than we would be. Those live here, and nowhere near the portfolio.

What we build

Designed, shipped, supported and operated by our own team, on one shared core. We answer the phone at month end. No outsourcing, no white-labelling, no reselling someone else's platform under our logo.

What we back

Someone else's company, with our money and judgment behind it. Their team, their roadmap, their name on the release. We hold an interest and give an opinion when it is asked for — that is the whole of it.

Backed by us

Not our code. Still our conviction.

Each one gets the same paragraph we would want from an investor: what it does, why we put money behind it, and what we are actually good for beyond the cheque.

Consumer loyalty

Earn free rewards at local businesses

A rewards app that lets shoppers earn points at independent local businesses, and gives those businesses a loyalty programme they were never going to build for themselves.

Why we backed it

Loyalty is a solved problem for anyone with a national brand and a marketing budget. For the shop on the corner it is a paper card, a WhatsApp broadcast, or nothing at all — the same gap between what large businesses get and what everyone else settles for that we build products against.

It is a consumer app, which is not a thing we build. That is the point of backing it rather than adding it to the portfolio: the merchant side of it rhymes with work we know well, and the consumer side is a discipline we would rather fund than pretend to have.

What we bring

  • Engineering review, at the pace a small team can actually absorb it
  • The operational lessons of running multi-tenant software for a thousand Indian businesses
  • Introductions into the merchant networks our retail and distribution products already sit inside

Building something we should know about? We are a small cheque and a very long opinion.

We back a couple of companies a year, usually in markets our products already sit next to. If that sounds like yours, start with an email rather than a deck.
